Katy Perry and her new BFF Rihanna have been seen painting the town red in New York and even vacationing together in Barbados in recent weeks. After all that quality time racked up between the two pop superstars, it seems like a duet or collaboration would be the likely next step for the ladies.

"I wouldn't mind!" Perry told "Extra" when asked about working with her friend at a People magazine party Wednesday night in New York City.

Perry said that Rihanna, whom she first met at last year's Jingle Ball shows, is doing well since her alleged altercation with Chris Brown and the media frenzy that followed it. "She's fine," Perry told the show. "She's happy. Happy girl. ... She's smiling."

Since the two pop stars became friends, Perry said they've avoided discussing the incident. "We're just friends. I don't get into her business," Perry added. "I think people don't really know the situation of what's going on unless they're in the situation. ... I think it's respectful to not even talk about it."

In addition to the People party, which Rihanna reportedly attended later in the night, the girls were been seen enjoying themselves at Tillman's Bar and Lounge on Tuesday night. And on Monday night, Rihanna attended the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute gala, her first appearance on the red carpet since before the Grammys.

"Of course I consider her a friend, but it's not like 'I'm there,' making a big deal of it, because I feel weird about that type of stuff," Perry told MTV News of their friendship last month. "I'm trying to always be there for my friends. She's a really cool chick. I love her style. ... She's one of those unaffected people."
