Jay-Z is to step down as the acting President of Def Jam records from January 1.
The rapper took on the position in 2005, shortly after announcing his retirement from rap.
In a public announcement Jay-Z said that his leaving was about looking for “new challenges.”
Andy "L.A." Reid, Island Def Jam Music Group chairman and CEO said : "While he will continue to be one of our signature artists, he will nonetheless be missed in this executive capacity.”
The rapper signed the likes of Rihanna and Ne Yo to the label, reports And Pop.
