Break out the spangles. Rufus Wainwright will release two of his Judy Garland tribute concerts on CD and DVD on Dec. 4 via Geffen.
The flamboyant singer/songwriter's Rufus Does Judy At Carnegie Hall (just pretend that Wainwright could actually do someone named Judy) is a two-CD set recorded on June 14, 2006 at the New York City theatre where the Canadian artist interpreted Garland's entire 1961 concert at the same venue.
The Rufus! Rufus! Rufus! Does Judy! Judy! Judy! Live At The London Palladium DVD is the same show performed at the British theatre on Feb. 25, 2007.
Both collections feature 27 songs performed with a 36-member orchestra. The DVD includes three additional tracks: "Hello Bluebird," featuring Garland's daughter, Lorna Luft; and "Someone To Watch Over Me" and "Everytime We Say Goodbye," featuring Wainwright's mother, Kate McGarrigle.
Rest assured, you'll hear "Over The Rainbow."
Wainwright's most recent studio album was last year's Release The Stars. He's currently touring Europe and has shows lined up in the U.S., Japan, Australia and New Zealand through early February.
