Egomaniacal Brit.pop stars Oasis have returned to the studio to record the follow-up to 2005s Don't Believe The Truth.

"We all write separately, but for some reason all the songs sound like they've got a common thread," Noel Gallagher told BBC's 6Music. "We've been focusing 'round the grooves more this time.

"The last album was quite 'songy,' if that makes any sense. It was quite a British, retro, '60s-sounding album. This is focusing 'round the grooves more."

Gallagher revealed that initial recording began six weeks ago at London, England's famed Abbey Road Studios. The band will re-enter the studio on Nov. 5 to continue recording and plan to mix the album after a Christmas break.

Oasis have already completed work on two songs intended for the album, and the rest of the planned tracks have been demoed.

Gallagher also smashed the universal belief that rock stars live exciting lives while telling the radio station of his difficulty in finding lyrical inspiration for the new LP.

"I've literally got nothing left to write about. I've written about being a youth, and I've written about being a rock star, and I've written about living life in the big city."

So fans shouldn't look for songs about youth, rock stars and life in the big city, which are apparently the only concepts worth writing about.

No release date has been set for the album.

Oasis released their first digital-only single, "Lord Don't Slow Me Down," on their website on Oct. 21. The song is the title track of the DVD that followed the group on their 2005-06 world tour and will hit stores on Nov. 6.
