It's halfway through the MTV Video Music Awards (September 9) live from the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas.
Following a disappointing opening performance by Britney Spears of her new single 'Gimme More', Rihanna was presented with the Monster Single Of the Year award.
Justin Timberlake was the winner of the Quadruple Threat Of the Year Award, and challenged MTV to "play more videos". Timberlake repeated his challenge upon winning his second award, the award for Male Artist of the Year when he also commented on the impressive performance from Chris Brown earlier in the evening.
"Nobody likes to be reminded how they're getting older," Timberlake said "and what Chris Brown did just reminded me that I'm getting older. Damn!
"It's exciting to see a new generation of artists really doing it and doing it well," he continued. "Thank you MTV. Like I said, play more videos! We don't want to see 'The Simpsons' on reality television, play more damn videos!"
50 Cent and Kanye West presented the Most Earth Shattering Collaboration Award to Beyonce, who accepted on behalf of herself and Shakira for their hit 'Beautiful Liar'. The rappers did not speak to one another, or smile, throughout their time on stage.
Fall Out Boy won the award for Best Group.
Meanwhile, performances are taking place in a number of suites throughout the resort, which are being screened intermittently throughout the ceremony. Collaborations so far have included Cee-Lo and Lemmy from Motorhead with Foo Fighters, Lil' Wayne performing with Fall Out Boy and 50 Cent with Justin Timberlake and Timbaland.
Stay tuned to NME.COM for the winners of Best Director and Video Of the Year, as well as all the exciting collaborative performances live from Las Vegas.
