This is your favorite Cupid, John G, and I'm here to wish you all the most spectacular Valentine's Day. Love is in the air, your $1.99 Hallmark card is in the envelope, your darling is just over there... Make the most of it, you cherubs, you. But, if you don't have a date for tonight, enjoy these reviews while you sob yourself to sleep:
First, staff reviewer Renaldo69 (I added in his full username because today is V-day) digs into Cult by Bayside:
As the album's curtain drops with a pop-punk confessional and admission of guilt in "Something's Wrong" and "The Whitest Lie", it's apparent that Bayside decided to make Cult an album that drew the best of what they represented. They explored and found the right notes without trying too hard.
The conversational and loose qualities of Get Dead make their sound more sincere than their peers. The album opens up with a gypsy spirit and integrity on "Kerouac's Teeth." It instantly transports us into the band's values and wanderlust through a rambling stream-of-thought process.
KDC know that there's still gold left to mine in hardcore and metal and they hit the richest spots. Even moreso, they know how to work those gems into each other, creating a unit more memorable than its individual pieces.
