The Godmother of Punk, Patti Smith, is in the process of writing a screenplay for her critically acclaimed memoir, Just Kids. The memoir details her friendship with photographer Robert Mapplethorpe during the '60s and '70s. Oscar-nominated screenwriter John Logan is collaborating with Smith on the new project.

Patti Smith also announced that she will be releasing a greatest hits compilation entitled Outside Society August 23, 2011.
