It seems that just about everybody has an opinion about MTV News' Men and Women of the Year lists. Not enough Britney, too much Beyoncé. Why was Robert Pattinson so low? And, most of all — no Barack Obama?!?

On Thursday, when we finally revealed our picks for both the Man and Woman of 2008, you made those opinions heard again. And the overwhelming response got us thinking: Why should we let the readers have all the fun? So we decided to turn the question over to some of the biggest artists of 2008 — a pair of whom were actually featured in the Top 10 — to get their thoughts. And while some of them agreed with our picks, others felt the need to point out one rather glaring omission. (Hint: His name rhymes with "Marack Bobama.")

Anyway, here's what some of 2008's most prominent men and women had to say:

Diddy

"I've seen Wayne [come up], and it's been a long, long road for him," Diddy said. "And the way he did it, and put it together, and how he became his own man but stayed down with his crew, and stayed true to who he was, and stayed consistent. He deserves everything he's getting [right now]. He's helped invigorate the game, he's the future, and he deserves it."

His other picks? "Hov — being the producer of the American Gangster album is something I'm definitely proud of. And 'Ye and T.I. It's a beautiful thing to see ... such great quality of work. And I'm very happy and proud of everybody."

Katy Perry

"My Man of the Year? I love Robert Pattinson."

Ne-Yo

"I think both of those have to go to the Obamas," the R&B star said. "Barack and [Michelle] have to take that. Simply put, we made history this year. First African-American president, first African-American first lady, there really isn't much else to say about that."

Hayley Williams, Paramore

"Conan O'Brien. He's the Man of the Year," Williams said. "He's definitely the man of next year, and we're going to say he's the man of this year, too." And her Woman of the Year? "Britney Spears, because she came back, and she did it right."

Lady Gaga

"I'd have to say Barack Obama is the Man of the Year. I think we did the absolute impossible this year. We had a huge change, and I'm so proud to be an American.

"The woman of the year ... I'm going to pick a kind of obscure person," Lady Gaga continued. "I'm going to give Woman of the Year to Grace Jones, just because she had an incredible album come out, and I'm a huge, huge fan. Everybody go look up 'Corporate Cannibal.' The song and the video are amazing, spreading avant-garde music around the world."

Jesse McCartney

"Woman of the Year, I'm going to go with Leona Lewis," said McCartney, who helped pen Lewis' "Bleeding Love." "I think she made a big statement in the pop world. I think she's our new pop diva; she's our new Whitney. As far as Man of the Year, yeah, I'm going to go with Obama. ... I think he had a bunch of pretty big accomplishments this year."

Estelle

"I think Kanye's come through very well. He had two major upsets in his life, with his mother and his relationships, and the way he's handled it, and the album he's made, I think he's done really well. I can't even imagine having to go through something like that, so, to me, he's done the best this year."

Chris Walla, Death Cab for Cutie

"The Man of the Year has got to be Barack Obama. And if this isn't part of a string of people saying 'Barack Obama' in shotgun fashion, I'm going to be terribly disappointed."

Chris Tomson, Vampire Weekend

"It's a pretty standard answer: We were all in Germany when the election happened, but we all mailed our votes in, so we all took part, and we're all excited about next year, and getting Barack Obama in the White House. Also, [embattled Illinois Governor] Rod Blagojevich. He does have pretty immaculate hair."
