Having just recently completed his Light Dreams and Nightmares Tour, you would think Drake would want to take some time off to just take in his past year. Or even take a minute to absorb the fact that his friend and mentor, Lil Wayne, is finally home. Nope, Drake is already prepping his next album, though that doesn't necessarily mean he's hitting the studio.

"My new thing is I'm not really going to the studio for this album. The studio is like this pressure," Drake told MTV News after his epic Las Vegas show, where Lil Wayne surprised him onstage. "It's like the label's money is being spent, or somebody's money is being spent, and it's like you only have a block of time. So what me and [producer Noah "40" Shebib] did was, we started building studios in our room, and it's just been turning out the most incredible music. I got two songs done for the new album."

Drake said that because the tour has been hard on his voice, he's been inspired to rap a lot more. His voice was noticeably hoarse when he spoke with MTV News, and he said maintaining it was one of the biggest challenges of the tour.

"It just hasn't made for pretty R&B music," Drake admitted. "I just sort of decided that the R&B mixtape would have to be made after this tour, because yelling every night, going out there screaming, and then going into the studio and trying to sing, it just wasn't working."

Drake said he would take some time to let his vocal cords rest, but he was now focused on his album, before he starts the European leg of his tour with J. Cole. Drake said his album feels super special. And along with 40, he said he had a chance to sit down with another long-time collaborator, Boi-1da.

"He played me some crazy new beats," Drizzy said. "It's just all coming together like it used to be, when we were all at 15 Fort York in Toronto, 40's building. It just feels like old times."
