MADRID — Katy Perry may have performed "Firework" at the 2010 MTV Europe Music Awards, but she took home the prize for Best Video thanks to her candy-coated clip for "California Gurls." She accepted the award in a gladiator-style dress complete with metal detailing and made sure that she thanked all the important people in her speech.

"Thank you so much," she told the crowd at Madrid's Caja Magica. "I really want to thank you guys 'cause I was just onstage performing and you are the best f---ing crowd in Europe. I really want to say thank you so much to everyone who helped me make this video and song. Snoop Dogg!"

She closed out her speech with an uplifting message for her fans: "You have the power!"

Perry beat out "Kings and Queens" by 30 Seconds to Mars, "Telephone" by Lady Gaga featuring Beyoncé, "Prayin' " by Plan B and "Love the Way You Lie" by Eminem featuring Rihanna.

Earlier in the night, she made her first public appearance since marrying Russell Brand. Perry dazzled in a very mini red-sequined dress with a ticket design that read "Admit One" that she paired with bright blue platform heels, while Brand went super-glam in a tuxedo, undone in that very Russell way.

"OK, first off, Snoop Dogg looks so awesome being the Wizard of Oz, kind of, behind the music video," she told MTV News about "California Gurls" back in June. "He wants to keep all of the girls entrapped in his Candyfornia. He's, like, the ruler, and I am the hero. ... Snoop was amazing to work with."

The 2010 EMA show airs on MTV2 on Sunday (November 7) at 9 p.m. ET, and an edited, performance-heavy version will be broadcast Friday at 9 p.m. ET on MTV.
