This weekend is shaping up to be a really good one for comedian Russell Brand. On Friday, the comedy "Get Him to the Greek," in which he co-stars with Jonah Hill and Diddy, opens in theaters. Then on Sunday, the much-anticipated 2010 MTV Movie Awards air live from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Los Angeles, where Brand will be among the presenters. As if that weren't enough, he'll have prime seats to fiancée Katy Perry's awards-show performance.
MTV News caught up with Brand while he was promoting "Greek," and he was, of course, excited about the upcoming events.
"We're both going to be at the Movie Awards. Katy's going to be performing her new, brilliant single, 'California Gurls,' " Brand said. "[It's going to be] me standing awkwardly with Jonah Hill and Puff Daddy."
Brand's co-star Diddy said he also was looking forward to the back-to-back events. "It's a big time," Diddy told MTV News. "It's the Movie Awards and it'll be the weekend the movie's out."
For Hill, however, attending the Movie Awards is his chance to become a part of the show's history, which has a long tradition of featuring many of the funnymen he grew up admiring.
"When I was younger, if like, Sandler or Stiller were presenting an award, I'd wait the whole night for it," he remembered. "Not that anyone cares that I am [presenting], but it's nice to be included in that."
Don't miss the live red-carpet coverage, exclusive movie clips and fist-pumping action on MTV News' "Jersey Shore Blow-Out at the MTV Movie Awards," airing live from Los Angeles this Sunday, June 6, at 8 p.m. ET/PT. Then stay tuned for the 2010 MTV Movie Awards at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
