'Whether we play again or not, I don't know,' singer tells Spin.com.By James Montgomery

Well, that didn't take long.

Hours after Pete Wentz took to his Twitter account to say he "can't imagine playing in Fall Out Boy again," his (former?) bandmate Patrick Stump responded with a doozy of his own, telling Spin.com, "I'm not in Fall Out Boy right now."

"One way or another, the band will always be around," Stump said. "Steven Tyler isn't in Aerosmith anymore, but his gravestone will probably say something about Aerosmith. Whether we play again or not, I don't know. If we do, it will be for the right reasons. If we don't, it will also be for the right reasons."

Patrick Stump's Last Fall Out Boy Tour?

Fall Out Boy had been on a rather loosely defined break since wrapping their tour with Blink-182 last year. In previous interviews, Wentz had gone to great lengths to assuage fans' concerns about the future of the group, saying they were just "decompressing." That all seemed to end with his tweets — and subsequent blog posts — early Tuesday morning (February 2). But now, it's pretty apparent: Fall Out Boy are done.

But will the separation be permanent? No one seems to know. Wentz wrote that he would be open to playing with the band again in the future. But Stump — who just last week e-mailed MTV News to announce his solo project — seems focused on his endeavors, at least for the time being.

"I'm really not worried about Fall Out Boy," Stump told Spin.com. "I'm so psyched about where I'm at right now, recording this solo album."

Much like Wentz's proclamation, it would appear that Stump made his announcement without consulting his bandmates ahead of time. Minutes after the Spin.com interview went live, FOB drummer Andy Hurley took to his Twitter account, posting, simply, "I quit too." That was followed by a post from guitarist Joe Trohman on his Twitter account, which read "I just did interviews with Span Magazine, Rabbling Stone and Blunder about how much quitting I done."

A spokesperson for Fall Out Boy's management did not respond to MTV News' request for comment by press time.
