Day26, Sean Garrett and The-Dream comment on Brown's first concert since the Rihanna assault.By Shaheem Reid

EAST RUTHERFORD, New Jersey — Anticipation was high at the Izod Center in New Jersey on Tuesday night as the crowd waited for Chris Brown to make his first concert appearance since his assault on Rihanna in February. He has expressed his remorse over the incident, and while he's on probation and serving his community labor sentence, he's also looking to forge ahead with his career. Brown released the video for "I Can Transform Ya" earlier this week, his Graffiti album is slated for a December 15 release, and his headlining performance at Power 105's Powerhouse concert on Tuesday serves as a preview of the Fan Appreciation Tour that begins on November 14.

As much as the ticket buyers were excited to see him, so were his fellow performers on the bill, all of whom expressed support for him.

"I can't wait to see Chris Brown get back onstage," Keri Hilson said shortly before Brown's showtime. "I think it's long awaited, due to the unfortunate circumstances. But I think everybody seems ready and anticipating his performance, and I think they're ready to kinda let that go. Just get back to what he's here to do: That's to entertain us. That's what he's so great at. I'm excited."

"He's gonna kill it," The-Dream declared. "There's never been a problem in his stage game. I am happy to see him back. I think he brings a certain type of energy to music that some of the best — [people] call themselves the best in R&B — don't go into themselves to find. I definitely think he's good for music."

The members of Day26, who were the first act to perform at the show, said they were going to stay until the end, just to see what Brown did.

"Big up to Chris Breezy," bandmember Willie Taylor said. "This has been a long sit-out. I'm going to be on the side of the stage checking it out. I know he's finnin' to take entertainment where he needs to be. I'm looking forward to it."

"I'm excited about him hitting the stage and coming back," Day26's Brian Andrews agreed. "I'm just proud the dude was brave enough to go back in the studio, do his thing. Get back up here, my hat's off to Chris Breezy."

"He always brings energy," Mario would say later. "He always brings a dope show."

Mario's "Break Up" co-star Sean Garrett also said he was looking forward to Brown's comeback in his personal and professional life. "I'm happy to see Chris move forward with his life. You never fully recognize how important your life is and your actions until it happens. We all love Chris. I'm just happy to see him back. I know he loves the stage. He loves performing. I just wanna see him live. It was a terrible situation for everybody involved. I love Rihanna. I love Chris, so does the world. I can't take no sides. I don't have a public opinion about what happened. I just wish them both the best. It's a lesson to be learned from this."
