In latest clip from Larry King interview, Brown says he wishes he could take back the events of February 8.By Gil Kaufman

In his interview with CNN's Larry King, Chris Brown said that he's ashamed of what happened in the early-morning hours of February 8, when he assaulted then-girlfriend Rihanna.

In the latest clip released from the interview that took place last week and is scheduled to air Wednesday night (September 2), King asks Brown how he feels about the reports documenting the attack.

"When you look at this, do you feel like you're looking at someone else?" King asks Brown, who is dressed in a light-blue sweater, white oxford and blue bowtie for his first televised interview since the assault.

"Yeah, from the outside looking in, what you see on TV, when they sayin' this, when they sayin' that," replies Brown, who released a statement on Monday saying that the first excerpt of the interview, in which Brown says he doesn't remember the incident, was taken out of context.

"You punched her a number of times; you threatened to beat the blank out of her," King continues. "[You] also said you were gonna kill her. You bit her on the ear and finger."

Brown, his eyes cast down, mumbles "yeah" to King's comments but offers no further explanation of his actions.

"You don't appear like a violent person," King says. "In fact, you appear rather calm, rather nice. So, what happened to you, do you think?"

Brown, who has never before publicly discussed the events of that night other than in his video apology, shakes his head and says, "I guess that night is just one of those nights I wish I could just take back, and I really regret and I feel totally ashamed of what I did."

The singer pleaded guilty to felony assault on June 22 in a deal that helped him avoid up to five years in jail, but includes five years of probation, six months of community labor service and an order to keep away from Rihanna for five years.

Brown also sat down with People magazine last week, with mother Joyce Hawkins by his side, and said that he was still in love with Rihanna. "I never fell out of love with her," he said. "That just wouldn't go away." He also said that after the assault, he was "distraught ... I went to my mom on the same night and told [her] what happened and broke down."

And while Brown has spoken about the domestic violence against his mother he witnessed growing up, he said he feels like he's different from his stepfather. "I feel like he enjoyed it," Brown said of Donnelle Hawkins, who has denied abusing Joyce Hawkins. "He was an abuser. It was continuous."
