This week The Fest announced more bands playing this year's weekend in Gainesville. The
new additions include a
Gunmoll reunion show and apperances from
Carpenter,
This Bike Is A Pipe Bomb,
Chris Wollard and the Ship Thieves,
Vicious Cycle,
American Steel and
Drag The River.
Dead to Me posted the song "Modern Muse" from their upcoming full length African Elephants. The band also announced that guitarist / co-vocalist Jack Dalrymple
did not participate it the recording, nor will he join the band on upcoming tours. Bassist / vocalist Chicken insists that Dalrymple is still in the band though, he's just taking a fatherhood sabbatical.
With their recent reunion the
Get Up Kids are getting all nostalgic on us. In a recent interview Jim Suptic discussed his love for
Fugazi and
outright apologized if the Get Up Kids' influence help create today's glam rock-like emo / punk scene.
Suburban Home announced the
next three Under The Influence pairings. Look for splits between
O Pioneers!!! and
New Bruises,
Joey Cape paired with
Mike Hale, and
Kevin Seconds with
Kepi Ghoulie.
Jello Biafra has returned with a new band dubbed
Jello Biafra and the Guantanamo School of Medicine. The band features Billy Gould of
Faith No More, Kimo Ball of Freak Accident, Ralph Spight of Victims Family, and Jon Weiss. The record The Audacity of Hype will arrive in October on Alternative Tentacles.
Banner Pilot has posted the track
"Greenwood" from their upcoming Fat Wreck Chords debut Collapser.
Panic at the Disco has unveiled the song
"New Perspective" from soundtrack to the upcoming film Jennifer's Body
Label Paper + Plastick also offered up a
free digital sampler this week.
Chuck Ragan has announced the dates for the
2009 Revival Tour with Jim Ward (
At The Drive-In,
Sleepercar,
Sparta),
Tim Barry (
Avail) and Dave Hause (The
Loved Ones).
Brand New has tour dates
coming up with
Manchester Orchestra,
Thrice, and
Glassjaw.
AFI has shows
scheduled in support of their upcoming Crash Love.
Polar Bear Club will play dates in
Europe followed by CD release shows.
Have Heart's
world-spanning final tour continues with appearances from
Crime in Stereo,
Cruel Hand,
End of a Year and
Foundation.
The
Letters Organize have
announced a reunion show this August in Atlanta, GA.
Fake Problems tour plans continue to fluxuate with the
cancellation of four more shows.
Finally this week saw a contestant on
Indonesia Idol perform
NOFX's "The Brews."
